The Fire Sermon by Francesca Haig

When Zach and I were born our parents must have counted and recounted: limbs, fingers, toes. We were perfect. They would have been disbelieving: nobody dodged the split between Alpha and Omega.
Nobody.

They were born together and they will die together.

One strong Alpha twin and one mutated Omega; the only thing they share is the moment of their death.

The Omegas live in segregation, cast out by their families as soon as their mutation becomes clear. Forced to live apart, they are ruthlessly oppressed by their Alpha counterparts.

The Alphas are the elite. Once their weaker twin has been cast aside, they're free to live in privilege and safety, their Omega twin far from their thoughts.

Cass and Zach are both perfect on the outside: no missing limbs, no visible Omega mutation. But Cass has a secret: one that Zach will stop at nothing to expose.

The potential to change the world lies in both their hands. One will have to defeat the other to see their vision of the future come to pass, but if they're not careful both will die in the struggle for power. @goodreads

Read from April 06 to 10, 2015

**I would like to thank Simon & Schuster and my book group for a copy of this book**

I went into this book a little skeptical at first, but after the first few pages I was hooked! I totally love this book!

You have this nuclear holocaust that caused an apocalypse and out of that came the Alpha's and the Omega's.

**SPOILERS**

So, get this, the Alpha's are the only ones that can have children and they always have twins, one alpha and one omega. The Alpha's are cruel and call the omega's mutants because most are deformed in some way. They send them off to camps where they live together and the Alpha's get to go to school and rule everything.

The main characters in this story in the beginning are Cass and Zach. Cass is an Omega but hides it until they are both 13 because she doesn't have an outward appearance deformity. She is a seer. Her brother Zach is the Alpha and he finally tricks her into telling that she is the Omega so he can go and have the great life while she is exiled from her parents.

Another twist to this story is if one of the twins dies for any reason, the other one dies too, no exceptions. I thought that was pretty cool!!

Cass sees bad things in the future that Zach has in mind. They come to her in dreams mostly. Zach being a high figure at the age of nineteen has his henchmen capture Cass and keeps her in the Keeping Rooms for a few years. They are just dungeons. He's afraid someone will try to kill him through her. He has an Omega seerer working for him, who is evil, she tries to get different kinds of information from Cass. She thinks she knows about an island where there is an Omega resistance force.

Cass manages to escape and get into a room that has people in big vats with tubes and all that good stuff keeping them alive. One of them looks at her, he is aware, so she breaks him out. Literally. She names him Kip because he has no memories.

Cass and Kip end up running away and well, I'm not going to say more from here. Let's just say there is a few more cool people to meet a long the way. Some very astonishing things that come out I didn't see coming and a tragic ending.

I can't wait for the next book in the series!!!!! Awesome!! 5 Stars!
